What are these?

In the simplest of terms, Web 2.0 is the current generation of Web sites that spark interaction among people. These sites often are called "social" because they encourage group activity, collaboration and information sharing.

Facebook

Facebook is the largest social network with millions of people worldwide sharing personal and professional activity. Once you create an account you can reconnect with other alumni and/or students and receive news and event information. RESOURCES: Facebook Guidebook

Twitter

This micro-blogging service allows users to send instant text-based posts (otherwise known as "tweets") up to 140 characters long. Sign up for a free Twitter account and follow W&J to receive up-to-the-minute happenings on W&J's campus. RESOURCES: Twitter Guidebook

LinkedIn

If you are interested in professional networking, our LinkedIn group is for you. This free service allows you to market your W&J education, abilities, and career history, and connect with other professionals and businesses. You must sign up for a free accountto join.

YouTube

You don't need to sign up for a free YouTube account to view W&J's videos, but if you do, you can vote, comment on videos and subscribe to W&J's channel to receive email notices when new videos are posted.

Flickr

After you attend a W&J event, check out our Flickr page to see if you appear in any of our photos! W&J uses Flickr to post pictures of our recent activities on campus, including student fundraising drives, Homecoming and Commencement. Like YouTube, you do not need to be a Flickr account holder to view our photos, but you do need to set up a free account to comment and be notified when new pictures are added.

Delicious

W&J uses Delicious' services to bookmark Web articles and Web sites that spotlight the W&J community. Students, faculty and alumni are tagged as "W&J Newsmakers." Check out what's newsworthy at W&J. If you sign up for a free account, you too can begin bookmarking your favorite sites and pages.
