W&J Track & Field Competes At Allegheny Friday
MEADVILLE, Pa. -- Washington & Jefferson College was one of 60 teams competing at the 2012 Allegheny College Gator Invitational on Friday. The meet was unscored.
The Presidents were led by third-place finishes from senior C.J. Corcoran (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton) and sophomore Cheyenne Mangold (Boerne, Texas/Texas Military Institute). Corcoran posted a top throw of 128'11" in the javelin, while Mangold earned third place in both the 200- (26.35) and 400- (58.17) meter events.
W&J's top men's finish came from senior Greg French (Buffalo, N.Y./Williamsville East), who placed fourth in the 110-meter hurdles (15.45). Classmate Taylor Hockman (Martinsburg, W.Va./Hedgesville) turned in a fifth-place showing in the long jump (21'11 3/4"), while also finishing seventh in the triple jump (43'1 3/4").
The Presidents' athletes will continue to earn qualifying marks for the NCAA Division III Championships on Monday at the Swarthmore Last Chance Meet.
