Assistant/Associate Professor and Chair of Nursing - Tenure Track
Washington, Pennsylvania, United States - 15301
Description

Washington & Jefferson College W&J invites applications for a newly created tenure track assistant/associate professor and chair of nursing position, beginning July 1, 2023. Applicants should possess or be close to completing a doctorate degree in nursing. Knowledge of, and experience with, a diploma program in nursing is strongly preferred.

The College anticipates launching a program in nursing in the Fall of 2024 and the director must be prepared to work with faculty members and administrators across the College to establish a new four-year liberal arts curriculum that will lead to the Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree. Recruiting and advising qualified students in the program is expected, as well as working with the College Registrar to review transcripts for transfer students. The director will work with community partners to build and sustain the program, oversee students' progress through the curriculum, plan course schedules, and assess the program's effectiveness for purposes of program review and accreditation. Once the program is launched, the director will be teaching courses in the program and in the general education program and supervise and evaluate nursing faculty. Over time, the successful candidate will actively engage in academic advising, professional activity, service, and College citizenship as we work together to advance the college's mission. They will report to the Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of the College.

Our community matters here. That is why all first-year faculty are paired with a faculty mentor external to the department, so that you can both meet more of our wonderful colleagues and expand your community from day one. We value the interdisciplinary aspect that comes with a liberal arts education; learning the perspectives and experiences from your colleagues in other departments can only serve to make you a better professor.

At Washington & Jefferson College, we are constantly working to ensure that diversity and inclusion are valued and acknowledged on our campus. Our most recent strategic plan includes the priority of becoming a more welcoming, inclusive, and visibly diverse community each year, and we welcome applications from candidates who would help us fulfill this goal.

We are seeking a colleague who shares our commitment to diversity and who brings their own perspective to our collective efforts to teach and mentor young people from a variety of personal experiences, values, and worldviews that arise from differences of culture and circumstance.
