This interdisciplinary course will serve as an introduction to the principles and practice of public health. Students will examine the roles of public health officials, the nature and scope of public health activity, and the challenges that face public health in the 21st century. The course will expose students to major subfields of public health including epidemiology, environmental health, and health policy.  Emphasis will be placed on the design and implementation of public health programs. Students will apply the knowledge they gain to real-world projects and case studies throughout the course.
