In this course, students will develop the skills required to learn and process music through aural listening. Students will learn rudimentary musical concepts such as pitch, melody, rhythm, and harmony as well as practice identifying more nuanced concepts such as intervals, chords and progressions, and key signatures in standard clefs. The primary goal is to help students use ear training (aural music skills) in conjunction with music literacy over the course of two weeks. This class is designed to offer beginner students the necessary tools to develop their aural music skills through dictation and ear training exercises and aid in their performance, improvisation, and growth as musicians.
