Shakespeare for Everyone

An introduction to reading, understanding, and enjoying selected plays by William Shakespeare within the context of stage, film, and classroom performance. Students will learn how Shakespeare uses embedded stage directions, audience address, and rhetorical figures to create his characters’ unique voices. Through modern parallel and performance work, students create their own interpretations of scenes making them relevant to them and reinventing Shakespeare for the current age. In addition, it teaches the art of close reading and analytical writing.
