The shape of the landscape around us is the product of many different processes over eons of time. This earth science lab course deals mostly with the inorganic components of our planet, such as rock and flowing water, that help shape the landscape. It focuses on how the shape of the earth’s surface changes, a process called geomorphology, including tectonics, volcanism, erosion, sedimentation, physical and chemical weathering, and the impact of humans. Laboratory assignments will be conducted in both field and classroom settings, with some computer- or map-based assignments included.
