This course will look at issues in American History by using, popular films as a starting point. Films such as Serpico (police, corruption), Good Night and Good Luck (McCarthyism), Norma Rae, (unionizing drives in the South) will be used to structure the, weekly inquiry. Students will learn the limitations of fictional, films as history and appreciate their value as entertainment., Students will have required weekly readings to give them a better, understanding of the issues, and be required to present their, research to the class. This course will have a standard, workload for a history course.
