Katherine Ternes, Ph.D.
Associate Professor of Spanish
Professor Katherine Ternes is an Associate Professor of Spanish in the Department of Modern Languages. She teaches elementary, intermediate, and advanced Spanish, in addition to literature surveys and culture courses. She also participates in the Freshmen Year Seminar program. She led two cultural-immersion Intersessions to Guanajuato, Mexico, four service-learning intersessions to Granada, Nicaragua, and co-directed a J-Term in Costa Rica. Her areas of interest include Modern Latin American Literature and Culture, Latin American Revolutions, Hispanic Women Writers and Artists, Foreign Language Pedagogy, and Service-Learning. Her primary research concerns avant-garde and contemporary artistic production in Mexico following the Revolution and artistic activism in Puerto Rico.
