Areas of Study

Mark Harris is a professor in the Department of Chemistry and is the Chair of the Pre-Health Professions Program. He is also a member of the Biochemistry Major Steering Committee. Dr. Harris was trained as an organic chemist with an emphasis on the chemistry of DNA, and he teaches organic chemistry, bioorganic chemistry, biochemistry, and medicinal chemistry. His students have done research on DNA structure, the synthesis of DNA analogs, and natural product isolation.
