Patrick Caffrey, Ph.D.

Associate Professor of History

Patrick Caffrey is an associate professor in the Department of History. He teaches nine courses about Asian history and World Environmental History, which surveys the effects humans have had on the natural environment and the effects that changes in the environment have on culture. He serves on the Campus Sustainability Committee, the International Studies Steering Committee, and on the Arbor Advisory, East Asian Studies, and Environmental Studies advisory committees. He is the director of the East Asian Studies minor and the adviser to the Asian Culture Association. Dr. Caffrey’s principal research interest is China’s environmental history.
