The Office of Admission at Washington & Jefferson College (W&J) is giving prospective students a new kind of college visit.
Presidential Premiere offers visiting students and their families an interactive first look at W&J. The event creates an opportunity to connect with current W&J students as well as faculty and staff members.
“We want students to drive their education, so we bring them an atmosphere that helps them connect with W&J,” said Vice President for Enrollment Robert Gould.
The day will begin with “Presidential Perspectives,” a panel that engages visiting students in discussion and offers an energetic and purposeful view of a W&J’s distinctive features and what it means to be a President. A second panel, “Preparing for College Success,” provides insight from admission professionals on the college search process, including how to make a college application stand out and acing the college interview.
Visiting students will have the opportunity to eat lunch with members of the W&J community as well as tour the campus with current student ambassadors to get a feel for the environment at W&J.
Brooke Beck ’19 will be one of the current students interacting with guests throughout the day.
“Presidential Premiere…allows [students] to visit campus in a low-stress environment in which they can explore W&J with their peers and have access to all of the Admission staff for questions,” Beck said. “My college search was confusing and stressful, so when I feel that I can help these families have fun with the search, it’s extremely rewarding. We have such an incredible and dedicated team, and we are always having a blast hosting these events.”
Throughout the day, guests will discover the many ways to individualize their college experience at W&J. The event also will feature an optional financial aid panel with a conversation on changes made to the 2017-2018 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) application.
The first 2017 Presidential Premiere will be held June 16 with additional sessions July 7 and August 4. To register for the program and view an event itinerary, visit https://www.washjeff.edu/presidentialpremiere.
