Chemical Physics

Major Emphasis

Students majoring in Physics are eligible to declare a major emphasis in chemical physics. Students will learn to describe and apply the fundamental tools and knowledge of organic and inorganic chemistry and demonstrate core chemistry and physics laboratory and analysis skills. Students will use chemical principles to explain the properties of materials and the behavior and evolution of systems, along with describing and analyzing chemical processes in terms of physical frameworks that include thermal and statistical physics, conservation of energy, and quantum mechanics.
